It all sounds great when you say it out loud and if you say it often enough I am sure you can start to believe it but how often have you actually followed through with a New Years resolution. I can safely say I have NEVER done it!

But I have full faith in you that you will pull this off and therefore, I would like to help you be successful at it. Here are some tricks that are actually proven to help you stay or get healthy in 2016.

#1 – Drink more Guinness! I am not joking! Everything is good in moderation of course but Guinness is actually known to help prevent blog clots and heart attacks. A study was done at the University of Wisconsin that actually proves that drinking Guinness (or a very dark beer) is better then drinking a lager for your health.

#2 – Cheese will actually help you boost muscle mass. Actually it’s the fat filled deliciousness will actually help you more! Full fat cheeses (no more low fat or no fat) is is full of casein protein which an optimal nutrient that your body needs when you are trying to build muscle. Cool eh? So no need to feel guilty about the extra fat when it is actually helping you beef up, in a good way!

#3 – Make fruits and veggies more convenient. Having a container of already pre-cut veggies or fruit in the fridge for your next snack or junk food craving. Having them available and ready to eat will make it easier for you to go for the healthy stuff before you head to the chip cupboard.

#4- Eat more often! One major misconception about trying to loose weight and get in shape is dieting. There is no reason to diet! Ideally everyone should be eating 6 small meals a day. This means a good, high protein breakfast, a snack of a fruit or veggie, a good balanced lunch with dairy, grain, protein and veggie, then another snack, then a solid dinner balanced the same as your lunch and then a snack again but not too close to bed time. If you can follow this routine you will actually loose weight and feel better faster.

#5 –  Learn to de-stress after your day. Stress is just straight up bad for you! It is hard on your heart, brain, joints, emotions… pretty much your entire life!! So learn what works for you to bust that stress so that you can give a happy and stress free life. First thing you would need to do is identify those stressers in your life then zap them! One of the easiest ways to do this is to be active, eat well and take care of yourself!
